Neurofascial, Myofascial, Neuromuscular,
Craniosacral, Post-op, and Scar Massage
Lyra first encountered bodywork through a dear relative who had been practicing massage for decades. Through this relationship, she was able to understand how beneficial an intentional, focused, and safe container to unwind in can be. Understanding how transformative therapeutic touch is, it still took years for her to recognize that she wanted to continue this lineage of healing with her hands.
A big part of Lyra's inspiration for making this leap was working on her godmother while she was recovering from a mastectomy. The procedure left her, a nurse, unable to help others heal as she had her entire life due to constant, debilitating nerve pain. Frequent massage was one of the few things that provided relief during this stage of her recovery.
In 2018, Lyra graduated from Cortiva School of Massage and has been practicing massage professionally ever since. Her continuing education has focused on post-surgical recovery, neurofascial, myofascial, and cranio-sacral modalities. She has also been trained in breast and chest massage, as well as visceral massage. Shaping each session around her client's needs, Lyra works seamlessly on a spectrum of treatment-focused bodywork and relaxation massage. In a single visit, she may incorporate the modalities listed above as well as Swedish massage and breathwork, to facilitate meaningful change in both body and mind.
Massage has been incredibly helpful to Lyra in integrating into her body and spirit as well as healing from medical intervention, the stress of modern life, grief, and personal loss. She also relies on regular massage to alleviate knots and restrictions in her own body and keep up with the physical demands of being a massage therapist. She believes massage can and should be a part of both holistic and medical healing approaches as we all need a place and time to put ourselves back together and ground with touch.
Lyra enjoys working with post-surgical, trans and queer clients, as well as those open to work that may feel subtle at first but is quite deep and profound. She also provides relief through medically focused, trigger point, sports, and deep tissue massage.

I have completed all training requirements for Breast and Chest Massage in Washington state. This work has been particularly helpful for clients recovering from surgeries, gender affirming or otherwise, in the chest and abdomen.
Whether it’s medically focused work helping tissue repair from an injury, surgery or other major life event, or a client seeking help integrating into their body, processing emotion, or moving through grief, this work can be extremely impactful.
Grief is often stored in the lungs, many emotions and trauma can get stuck in our chests and surrounding tissues.
This work can be done draped or undraped and requires an additional consent form as well as verbal consent, regardless of gender.
Please let me know in advance if you would like to incorporate this work into our session, and be prepared to arrive a few minutes early to allow time for extra paperwork if it’s our first session doing so.

Massage can be a wonderful tool for recovery and I believe should not be separate from medical systems but rather complimentary and integrated. If applicable, please make sure you have been cleared by a doctor or other medical professional to receive massage before seeking treatment.
